SEO Strategy Report

for Carolina & Company Salon

Prepared by Isaias & Elie. August – September 2025

Step 1: Project Summary

We, Isaias and Elie, are working together on this report to strengthen the organic search ranking of Carolina & Company Salon in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the practice of helping a website appear higher in search results so more potential customers can find it. Organic ranking is critical because greater visibility translates to increased website traffic, stronger brand credibility, and ultimately, more bookings. (Strauss, Frost, & El-Ansary, 2013)

Our Approach

  • Analyzed organic ranking factors
  • Researched effective keywords
  • Evaluated website strengths/weaknesses

Key Benefits

  • Increased website traffic
  • More client bookings
  • Stronger brand credibility

Step 2: Understanding Organic Ranking

When someone in the DFW area searches online for a hair salon or a specific service like balayage, search engines such as Google or Yahoo decide which websites show up first. This order, called organic ranking, is determined by multiple factors:

Content

Technical SEO

Backlinks

Engagement

Ranking

By improving in these areas, Carolina & Company Salon can build credibility with search engines and steadily rise in organic rankings for the services it wants to highlight. (Google, n.d.)

Step 3: Keywords, Queries, and Current Rankings

We identified three target service-based keywords highly relevant to Carolina & Company Salon: "balayage Dallas," "Brazilian blowout Dallas," and "hair extensions Dallas." These keywords were chosen because they represent high-intent services that potential clients actively search for in the Dallas market. (SEMrush, 2025)

Step 4: Analysis of Current Web Pages

Strengths

  • Integrated booking system through Square/Vagaro
  • Location visibility: The site mentions “Dallas, Texas,” which supports local search signals.
  • Consistent NAP (Name, Address, Phone) across pages
  • Service listings: Services such as balayage, extensions, and coloring include some naturally relevant keywords.
  • Wide variety of services listed
  • Team page: Staff are introduced, which builds trust with visitors and search engines.
  • Team page highlights stylist specialties
  • Strong visuals: Images of services and products add credibility and give Google context.
  • Booking functionality: Online appointment options make it easy for users to take action (positive for engagement metrics).

Weaknesses

  • No mission/about section: Lacks a clear brand story and identity keywords.
  • Shallow team bios: Staff specialties aren’t detailed or keyword-rich (e.g., “bridal hair stylist,” “Dallas balayage expert”).
  • Business hours missing: Hours of operation are not listed, which is important for local search and Google results.
  • SEO Service descriptions lack depth: Copy is generic and not optimized with geo-keywords.
  • Generic titles & meta descriptions: Pages do not have unique metadata, which hurts rankings
  •  Typos & inconsistencies: Minor errors in service copy lower professionalism.
  • Weak content structure: Inconsistent heading tags (H1, H2) make it harder for search engines to crawl.
  •  No schema markup: Missing structured data like LocalBusiness or Service schema.
  •  No blog content: The site doesn’t produce fresh, keyword-targeted content.
  • Weak social integration: Instagram exists but isn’t linked back to the site.
  • Product brands not optimized: Shown in images but not linked or keyword-based.
  • Annoying pop-ups: Pop-ups on every page risk increasing bounce rates.

Step 5: Inbound Links & Other SEO Recommendations

We compared Carolina & Company Salon’s website with top competitors in Dallas to understand how backlinks (links from other sites) affect visibility. Backlinks act like “votes of trust” — the more high-quality votes you get, the more Google sees you as an authority.

📊 Competitor Backlink Overview

Salon Website Referring Domains Authority Score Organic Traffic
Carolina & Company Salon 108 8 35
Republic Hair Co. 122 17 4.3k
Tangerine Salon 568 35 28.6k
Bigger Better Hair 1.2k 22 4.6k

Note. Data obtained from SEMrush Backlink Analytics (SEMrush, 2025)

🎯 Target Goals:

  • * Short-term (6 months): Increase from 108 → 150–200 referring domains.

  • * Long-term (12 months+): Build toward 300–400 referring domains to start competing with mid-tier salons like Republic Hair Co.

We don’t need 1,000+ backlinks immediately — steady, high-quality growth matters more than raw numbers.

🔗 Inbound Link Strategy:

We recommend focusing on quality, relevant links from the Dallas area and beauty industry:

  • Add listings on Google Business, Yelp, Bing Places, Nextdoor, Dallas Chamber of Commerce
  • Partner with Dallas beauty/lifestyle bloggers
  • Pitch to Dallas Observer, D Magazine, lifestyle press
  • Collaborate with local influencers on Instagram/YouTube
  • Encourage client reviews on Yelp, Google, and Facebook
  • Reciprocal links with photographers, bridal shops, and makeup artists.
  • Content That Attracts Links → Create posts like “Top 5 Balayage Styles in Dallas” or “Hair Extension Care Tips for Humid Weather.”

💡 Other SEO Recommendations (Beyond Backlinks) :

Alongside building inbound links, we also recommend improvements inside the site:

  • Add an About/Mission page with Dallas-specific keywords.
  • Expand team bios with specialties (bridal stylist, balayage expert).
  • Display business hours consistently across pages and Google Business Profile.
  • Rewrite service descriptions with geo-keywords (“Dallas balayage,” “DFW extensions”).
  • Fix titles and meta descriptions to be unique and keyword-optimized.
  • Correct typos and improve copy.
  • Use proper heading structure (H1/H2 tags).
  • Implement schema markup (LocalBusiness, Service schema).
  • Launch a blog for fresh keyword-rich content.
  • Integrate social media (Instagram, YouTube links).
  • Optimize product/brand mentions (name + keyword links).
  • Reduce pop-up frequency to lower bounce rates.
